Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president-elect, and Kashim Shettima, the vice president-elect, received national honors from President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday at a ceremony that was seen by prominent members of the community, including the diplomatic corps.
The event took place in the Presidential Villa's banquet hall in Abuja.
Visitors struggled mightily to navigate the congested traffic on the road leading to the banquet hall, which served as the location of the investiture of the president-elect and the vice president-elect, Shettima.
In order to watch the historic conferment being witnessed by many in the fully packed hall, the visitors, including members of the diplomatic corps, braved the State House's sluggish security checks on the roadways leading from the Federal Secretariat and Fire Service routes.
Events planned for the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria's inauguration include the official Hand-over of Transition of Documents ceremonies, the awarding of the National Honours in the categories of GCFR and GCON to the President-elect and Vice President-elect, respectively.
President Buhari honored his successor with the highest national honor, the title of the GCFR, and conferred the level of GCON in keeping with the custom of honoring all Nigerian presidents and vice presidents, respectively.
What we recommend.
