The Headies Awards, which was first established in 2004 as the Hip Hop World Awards, have made significant contributions to the development and recognition of Nigerian music, making it the nation's top musical honor.
As the award prepares to enter its 16th edition, The Headies announced the call for entries for the 2023 edition on May 22.
Songs and projects released between January 2022 and March 2023 will be eligible for nominations for the year under review.
The submission window will close on Friday, June 16, 2023.
The 15th Headies, the previous edition, was hosted outside of Nigeria for the first time in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. This multinational project demonstrated the popularity and awareness of Nigerian music around the world.
The Headies Awards were founded in 2004 and have since grown to be a key indicator of success in Nigerian music. Olamide, Wizkid, and M.I. Abaga are the three superstars with the most awards out of all of Nigeria's top stars that have competed for the honor.
Like prior years, the 2023 edition is likely to include fierce competition, notably for the Next Rated Prize, which has grown to be the most contentious in the awards' history.
What we recommend.
