Graham Potter bought himself some time in the Chelsea dugout as Wesley Fofana's second-half header delivered a vital 1-0 win over old rivals Leeds at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.


The hosts dominated from the first whistle and had three glorious chances to take the lead through Wesley Fofana, Kai Havertz and Joao Felix, with the latter thumping the crossbar.


The Blues were forced to wait until early in the second period to get the all important winner, though, as Fofana rose highest to nod a corner into the back of the net. Despite Chelsea missing a litany of goalscoring chances, that proved to be enough for a crucial three points.

Kepa Arrizabelega 

Kepa received only minimal testing; the majority of the time, he merely needed to be aware of his positioning. 6/10


Wesley Fofana

Fofana  came within inches of opening the scoring with a thunderous header, but he made no mistakes when given a second chance to nod in the goal. 8/10


Kalidou Koulibaly

When Leeds were in, Koulibaly made two excellent last-ditch recovery challenges. steadfast throughout. 7/10


Benoit Badiashile

Another mature performance from Badiashile as he quickly emerged as one of Chelsea's top newcomers. 7/10


Ruben loftus-cheek

Loftus-Cheek moved forward effectively, but occasionally lacked the necessary passing precision and final result. 6/10


Mateo Kovacic

Kovacic did a lot of dirty work.

to offer his midfield partner more flexibility. 6/10


Ben Chilwell 

A corner assist and continuous outlet from the wingback as Chelsea advanced down his flank. 7/10


Raheem Sterling 

A dangerous menace who helped launch Chelsea's most effective offenses and who also came dangerously close to scoring. With Dortmund in mind, hooked. 7/10


Joao Felix

Displayed excellent technique to half-volley a shot at the goal, but it hit the crossbar. Before being substituted, bright. 6/10


Kai Havertz

Havertz  needed to score in a one-on-one matchup, but once again he was wasteful.

Substitutes

Denis Zakaria 

Zakaria added some mettle to the Blues' midfield as they shifted to a diamond shape to see out the game. He gave the Blues' midfield some toughness as they switched to a diamond formation to finish the game. 6/10 


Conor Gallagher

As soon as Gallagher came on, he had the bit between his teeth and enjoyed the midfield duel. 7/10


Carney Chukwuemeka 

Chukwuemeka got on the ball and acted quickly and with assurance. 6/10


Noni Madueke

Madueke was vivacious and active during his cameo. 6/10


Trevoh Chalobah 

Chalobah's brief appearances on the field, he made some significant interventions. 6/10
